From the outside looking in, the country music world appears to be a friendly place. Most artists only have good things to say about their peers and up-and-comers. Almost all of today\u2019s hitmakers pay homage to legacy acts in one way or another. Overall, it seems like a genre full of wholesome interactions. However,\u00a0Brooks & Dunn<\/a>\u00a0have pulled back the curtain and told the world what they say is the truth. Country music is actually highly competitive, and there\u2019s more animosity between artists than friendship.<\/p>\n

Last year, Brooks & Dunn appeared on Theo Von\u2019s\u00a0This Past Weekend<\/em>\u00a0podcast<\/a>. While there, they talked about the collaborative album,\u00a0Reboot II<\/em>, their long career, and more. During their conversation, Ronnie Dunn told Von that everyone in the country music business hates one another.<\/p>\n

Brooks & Dunn Reveals the Hate in the Country Music World<\/h3>\n

\u201cAs friendly as they say the world of country music is, it\u2019s so darn competitive,\u201d Ronnie Dunn said while Kix Brooks nodded in agreement. \u201cEverybody hates one another. They act like they don\u2019t on TV,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n

Then, Theo Von asked if he really believed that artists in the genre were that competitive. \u201cOh, heck yeah. Big time competitive,\u201d he replied. \u201cOne of my favorite things is Dolly Parton, in an interview years and years ago, she\u2019s talking about somebody and she goes, \u2018Oh, honey, there\u2019s room for everybody [in country music].\u2019 No, there\u2019s not. If you want to get down to it, no, there\u2019s not,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe can be cool and sit back and go, you know, \u2018We don\u2019t care. No big deal. We\u2019re not in it for that. We\u2019re in it for the love.\u2019 That\u2019s not the case,\u201d Dunn said.<\/p>\n

Brooks & Dunn have maintained a long and public friendship with Reba McEntire, proving that not all artists in the country music world are so competitive that they can\u2019t be friends.<\/p>\n
