Alan Jackson has written or co-written plenty of his own songs. It\u2019s Jackson who is the writer on songs like \u201cHere in the Real World\u201d, \u201cChattahoochee\u201c, \u201cDrive (For Daddy Gene)\u201d, and more.<\/p>\n
But for all of his songwriting talent, Alan Jackson has also released several songs that he didn\u2019t write. We found four hits that sound like they were written by Jackson, but were actually written by someone else instead.<\/p>\n
\u201cGone Country\u201d was written by Bob McDill, out in 1994 on Jackson\u2019s Who I Am album. Before Jackson recorded \u201cGone Country\u201d, several other artists had already passed on the song. It\u2019s fortunate for Jackson, who wishes he had written the song himself.<\/p>\n
\u201cWhen I first heard this song, I fell in love with it,\u201d Jackson says (via Wide Open Country). \u201cI wish that I\u2019d written it cause it says a lot of things that I\u2019d like to say. I think it\u2019s just a fun song actually, celebrating how country music has become more widespread and accepted by all types of people all over the country.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cBetween The Devil And Me\u201d is written by Harley Allen and Carson Chamberlain, released in 1997 on Jackson\u2019s Everything I Love record. The song is also one of Jackson\u2019s strongest vocal deliveries.<\/p>\n
The song says in part, \u201cThe gates of hell swing open wide \/ Inviting me to step inside \/ I\u2019ll be your friend \/ He calls again, I know it\u2019s him \/ The flames are spreading everywhere \/ Through the smoke I see her there \/ She\u2019s all I see, between the Devil and me.\u201d<\/p>\n
Jackson also includes \u201cThe Devil And Me\u201d on his Genuine: The Alan Jackson Story 2015 project.<\/p>\n
\u201cLittle Bitty\u201d is written by Tom T. Hall, and also included on Everything I Love. The platinum-selling single sounds like something Jackson would write, with lines like<\/p>\n
According to The Boot, \u201cLittle Bitty\u201d is not only significant because it was a No. 1 hit for Jackson. It also marks Hall\u2019s first big hit as a songwriter, after saying he was retiring from songwriting in 1986.<\/p>\n
\u201cRight On The Money\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cRight On The Money\u201d is written by Phil Vassar and Charlie Black. The song is on Jackson\u2019s 1996 High Mileage record. It became Jackson\u2019s 16h No. 1 single.<\/p>\n
The laidback, feel-good track says in part, \u201cShe\u2019s right on the money \/ She goes direct to my heart \/ When it comes to lovin\u2019 me \/ She\u2019s everything I need, bulls eye-perfect \/ She\u2019s right on the money.\u201d<\/p>\n
Jackson only wrote five of the ten songs on High Mileage. The album also includes \u201cGone Crazy\u201d and \u201cLittle Man\u201d, both hits that Jackson wrote by himself.<\/p>\n
