Introduction

After Six Decades, Donny Osmond Refuses to Slow Down
Donny Osmond has spent more than 60 years in the limelight, conquering the charts, Broadway, television, and Las Vegas stages. At 65, he could easily rest on his legacyâbut retirement isnât in sight. His drive remains strong, with one goal fueling him: to break a record held by none other than Elvis Presley.
âI love what I do. Getting on stage is like my drug of choice,â Osmond told the Evening Standard before his 12-date UK tour this December. âI can see the tunnelâs end, but itâs still far away because I have so much left to accomplish. One of those thingsâmaybe the most importantâis reaching 68 albums. That way, Iâll surpass Elvis.â
Currently, that ambition is within reach. His 65th record, Start Again, came out in 2021, and heâs already laying the groundwork for the next one. Though still in the early stages, Osmond promises the project will offer fans something fresh, original, and creatively daring.
A Personal Bond with Elvis
Osmondâs mission to outdo the King of Rock ânâ Roll goes beyond numbers. Elvis Presley held a special place in his familyâs story. Donnyâs mother, Olive, was a close friend to Presley, someone he leaned on during his meteoric rise.
âShe was like a surrogate mother to him,â Osmond recalled with a grin. âHe would call our home just to talk to her. Once, my brother Jay answered, and the voice on the other end said, [slipping into an Elvis impression] âIs your mother there?â Jay asked, âYeah, whoâs calling?â The reply: âThis is Elvis.â But Jay didnât realizeâit went right over his head. He just shouted, âHey Mom, some guy named Elvis is on the phone!ââ
Donny chuckled at the memory. âWhen Mom told me, we all laughed ourselves silly. Jay had no clue it was Elvis Presley on the line.â
From Vegas to London
This December, Osmond will take his award-winning Las Vegas residency overseas, with a UK tour that includes two nights at Londonâs Hammersmith Apollo. It will be his first time performing there since 2017, and he promises his most elaborate production yet.
âThis show covers everything Iâve doneâand thatâs a lot,â he teased. Audiences can expect a career-spanning celebration: from the early days with The Osmonds, to his famous duets with sister Marie, to Broadway performances, solo hits, and more.
A fan-favorite highlight is his 15-minute request segment, where he takes spontaneous song requests without a setlist or teleprompter. For the UK run, Osmond plans to extend this portion, giving fans the chance to relive the soundtrack of their lives in real time.
Anchored by Family
Despite a packed performing schedule in Las Vegas, Osmond emphasizes that family comes first. He and his wife, Debbieâhis partner of 45 yearsâhave five sons and 12 grandchildren. Debbie will join him on the UK tour, something that makes the experience even more special.
âFamily means everything to me,â Osmond said. âBetween curtain calls, I love slipping back into my role as Grandpa.â
That role carries its own share of funâespecially since his 2019 appearance as âThe Peacockâ on The Masked Singer. âOne of my grandsons, Truman, still calls me âthe Peacock,ââ Osmond laughed. âHe wonât say Grandpa. Itâs always, âHey, Peacock!â Looks like Iâll be the Peacock for the rest of my lifeâand Iâm perfectly fine with that.â
Looking Forward
After a lifetime in show business, Donny Osmond still radiates the excitement of a newcomer. His upcoming UK tour isnât a farewell, but rather a celebrationâof endurance, reinvention, and the unbreakable connection he shares with his fans.
