George Strait & Tom Cusick: A Friendship That Built Something Greater

Watch the video at the end of this article.

Introduction

In a world where most partnerships are built on profit, George Strait and Tom Cusick forged theirs on purpose. When the Tapatio Springs Hill Country Resort in Boerne, Texas, was falling apart in 2011, many saw a lost cause. George brought the soul of Texas music, Tom brought sharp business insight—and together, they saw not a project, but a promise.

Refusing to let the resort’s legacy vanish, they poured their hearts, time, and resources into its revival. But saving a resort was only the beginning. That same year, they launched the Vaqueros del Mar Invitational Golf Tournament & Benefit Concert, an annual event blending fairways and Fender guitars to raise money for injured military veterans through Feherty’s Troops First Foundation.

From a fading property to a fundraising powerhouse, the legacy of George and Tom’s friendship is still growing. Together, they’ve raised millions, proving that with heart, vision, and brotherhood, you can build something far greater than bricks and mortar. You can build hope.
