Introduction
While George Strait’s incredible Texas mansion was indeed fit for a king, it’s important to note that he sold the sprawling San Antonio estate in late 2021 after it had been on the market for several years.
However, we can still take a virtual tour of what made this property so remarkable!
A Look Inside “The King of Country’s” Former Texas Estate:
- Location: Situated on a hilltop within the exclusive Dominion Country Club neighborhood in San Antonio, Texas, the estate offered expansive 360-degree views of the Texas Hill Country.
- Size and Style: The custom-built adobe mansion spanned approximately 7,925 square feet and sat on a vast 12.2 acres of land. It was designed by renowned sculptor-turned-architect Bill Tull, who even relocated his staff to San Antonio for the two years it took to build. The style was a unique blend of Santa Fe and modern rustic, featuring imported adobe and character-rich wooden beams.
- Bedrooms and Bathrooms: The main residence boasted three bedrooms, four full bathrooms, and two half-baths. Each bedroom had its own en-suite bathroom and a fireplace. The master suite was particularly lavish, featuring separate “his-and-hers” bathrooms and closets, along with two fireplaces.
- Fireplaces Galore: A standout feature of the home was its impressive 14 hand-sculpted fireplaces throughout the property, acting as both functional heating systems and artistic elements.
- Gourmet Kitchen: The mansion included a gourmet kitchen, perfect for entertaining.
- Luxurious Amenities: The estate offered a plethora of amenities, including:
- A workout room with a private bathroom and sauna.
- A walk-in safe room, reportedly designed to resemble a bank vault from a Western movie.
- Surround sound system throughout the main house.
- Multiple indoor and outdoor venues for dining and entertaining large groups.
- Outdoor Oasis: The outdoor living spaces were equally impressive, featuring:
- An infinity-edged, glass-tile pool and spa.
- A sports court.
- A patio with a built-in grill, sink, ice maker, and refrigerator.
- Guest House: The property also included a detached, self-contained guest house (“casita”) with one bedroom, one bathroom, a living room, kitchenette, and its own fireplace.
- Unique Details: The attention to detail was evident in elements like custom stained-glass windows, artist murals, earthy saguaro cactus rib shutters, and hand-crafted tiles.
The Sale of the Mansion:
George Strait initially listed the estate in 2018 for $10 million. After several price reductions, including dropping to $6.9 million, it was finally sold in late 2021 to Shannon Ralston, the owner of a medical staffing company. While the final selling price was not publicly disclosed, it marked the end of an era for “The King of Country” in this spectacular San Antonio residence.
While George Strait no longer resides in this particular Texas mansion, its unique design and luxurious features certainly made it an estate fit for a king. He is believed to still reside in the Texas Hill Country, maintaining his connection to the state he calls home.
