Introduction
April 30, 1975 Almost immediately after taking the stage on Wednesday night, Elvis began handing out scarves. Elvis was adored by one of the first women to receive this affection in exchange for two things: One seemed like a fluffy, furry purse, and the other resembled her “little black book.” Hmm. That wasn’t all, though. Something soft sailed onto the Omni stage and landed with a plop at the time that one of the girls gave Elvis a giant toy tiger. It wasn’t…? It was, indeed. Elvis couldn’t help but pick up this most personal memento—a bra, bright green at that. He wanted to know who did this. The offender stood brashly and acknowledged that she had carried out the action. So that continued all night. Elvis Presley’s concerts are more amusing social gatherings than musical performances. When they see the Pelvis, his mob of female fans loses all sense of modesty. His scarf-giving habit has grown significantly. Who is to blame? After a while, achieving one great accomplishment after another must wear him out, so he must welcome any change. He distributed perhaps fifty scarves throughout his performance on Wednesday, each of which briefly hung around his neck. Approximately twelve fortunate women were kissed by him, and several of them were shocked right away. Elvis had to go out of his way to give these oscillating awards, occasionally nearly falling to the stage floor. Girls who were small enough to be carried in their mothers’ arms received a couple of the kisses. His show is essentially the same as it was before. A feminine outcry can be triggered by the simple act of dimming the lights. The ‘2001’ intro is followed by Elvis’s arrival on stage. Lots of squeals. Hundreds of flashbulbs erupt at once, transforming the massive auditorium into a daytime scene. He crosses the stage. More screams. He picks up his guitar. More chaos. He starts singing. The audience is inconsolable. The Omni’s wall will undoubtedly collapse at any second. The audience is completely captivated by him. All he needs to do is enter his well-known wiggle to start a chain reaction. However, during his solemn periods, the home becomes very quiet. (The proportion of rock songs to ballads is positive.) Elvis makes it light, and that’s what matters. His performances are hilarious. Just as important to the performance as the celebrity is the crowd. The Presley show was the sole event in Atlanta on Wednesday. It will be the same on Thursday and Friday evenings.
