TWO WEEKS AFTER OPEN-HEART SURGERY, INDY FEEK PASSED OUT AND WOULDN’T WAKE UP. HER FATHER LATER WROTE, “WE THOUGHT WE HAD LOST HER.” Indiana Feek had just spent a beautiful week recovering at home in Waco when everything suddenly changed. On Wednesday night, she became sick, started vomiting and nearly fainted several times. Early the next morning, Indy lost consciousness—and would not wake up. Rory Feek said he and his wife, Rebecca, had never been more frightened. Paramedics rushed Indy to a hospital in Waco. From there, she was flown to Dell Children’s Medical Center in Austin, where doctors discovered a dangerous complication from the inflammation following her heart surgery. Fluid had collected around her heart, preventing it from beating properly. Doctors drained 610 cc of fluid. Almost immediately, Indy’s heart rate returned to normal. By that evening, she was awake and ordering her favorite food from the hospital cafeteria. The following morning, her color had returned, and the little girl her family knew was back—smiling, talking and playing game after game of Uno. Doctors expect her to make a full recovery. Rory called the experience a terrible but wonderful wake-up call—one that left their family more grateful than ever. Indy is doing well, but her healing journey is not over. Please keep this sweet girl and her family in your prayers.

Just two weeks after undergoing open-heart surgery, little Indiana “Indy” Feek experienced a terrifying setback that left her family fearing the worst. After spending a beautiful week recovering at home in Waco, Texas, everything suddenly changed one Wednesday night when Indy became very sick. She began vomiting, became weak, and nearly lost consciousness several times. By early the next morning, the situation became even more frightening when Indy passed out and would not wake up.

For her father, Rory Feek, and her mother, Rebecca, it was one of the scariest moments they had ever faced. Rory later shared that they truly thought they were losing their precious daughter. Emergency responders quickly arrived and rushed Indy to a hospital in Waco. Because of the seriousness of her condition, she was then transported by air to Dell Children’s Medical Center in Austin, where a team of doctors immediately began searching for answers.

Doctors discovered that Indy was suffering from a dangerous complication related to inflammation after her heart surgery. Fluid had built up around her heart, putting pressure on it and making it difficult for her heart to function normally. In a critical moment, doctors drained 610 cc of fluid from around her heart. Almost immediately, Indy’s heart rate began returning to normal, bringing a wave of relief to everyone who loved her.

By that evening, something beautiful happened. Indy was awake again, feeling better, and doing what she loved — choosing her favorite meals from the hospital cafeteria. The following morning, her family saw the little girl they knew returning. Her color was back, her smile returned, and she was once again talking, laughing, and enjoying games of Uno with those around her.

Doctors believe Indy is on the path toward a full recovery, though her healing journey is still continuing. Rory described the experience as a painful but meaningful reminder of how precious life is. Through fear and uncertainty, their family found even deeper gratitude for every moment together.

Indy’s story is a powerful reminder of courage, love, and the strength of a family standing together through difficult times. Please continue keeping Indiana and the Feek family in your thoughts and prayers as this brave little girl continues her journey of healing.
